Impossible Answers Breaking beliefs

Impossible Answers Breaking beliefs – a great example

Impossible Answers

As many people are gripped by the Olympics in London, here is a great lesson about how an individual person literally changed the perceived wisdom of the word.

This is the story of Dr Roger Bannister is a great example of someone who was prepared to challenge an established Paradigm and create a brand new one.
For many years it was widely believed to be impossible for a human to run a mile in under four minutes. In fact, for many years, it was believed that the four minute mile was a physical barrier that no man could break without causing significant damage to the runners’ health, including the thought that their hearts would burst with the effort.
On a windy spring day, on the 6th of May 1954, Dr Roger Bannister ran a mile in 3 minutes 59.4 seconds. He broke the paradigm or psychological barrier. What made this event so significant is that once the four minute barrier was broken by Roger Bannister, within three years, by the end of 1957, 16 other runners also cracked the four minute mile. The paradigm had changed because one man dared to believe what was considered impossible.
